Prof De Angelis published a new book!

The book "Nonlinear Meta-Optics" edited by Costantino De Angelis, Giuseppe Leo and Dragomir Neshev and published by CRC Press is now available! You can find the book here!

This book addresses fabrication as well as characterization and modeling of semiconductor nanostructures in the optical regime, with a focus on nonlinear effects. The visible range as well as near and far infrared spectral region will be considered with a view to different envisaged applications. The book covers the current key challenges of the research in the area, including: exploiting new material platforms, fully extending the device operation into the nonlinear regime, adding re-configurability to the envisaged devices and proposing new modeling tools to help in conceiving new functionalities.

Prof Vincenti and Prof Baronio are awarded US Army Research Laboratory grant!

- APRIL 2020 - 
The project "Extreme nonlinear optics in epsilon-near-zero materials" has been funded by US Army Research Laboratory! 
The objective of this project is to identify and study extreme nonlinear phenomena that occur in epsilon-near-zero materials. We will exploit the frequency regime were singularity driven enhancements of the local field can boost of nonlinear and quantum optical phenomena and plan to observe novel, extreme nonlinear events that may be accessible under these circumstances, such as solitons, breathers or rogue waves and dispersive shock waves.

METAFAST project funded under the FET OPEN - Horizon 2020 program!

- FEBRUARY 2020 - 
Metasurfaces for ultrafast light structuring (METAFAST) has been funded under the FET OPEN - HORIZON 2020 programme! 
METAFAST explores the feasibility of a new strategy for SAM and OAM structuring based on a light-by-light manipulation approach, potentially leading to several orders of magnitude improvement in the optical transmission rate, for post 5G generation Peta bit/s data links. Our idea is to develop a novel class of synthetic nonlinear optical materials or metamaterials as a disruptive platform to achieve unprecedented dynamical control over light polarization and wavefront.
The project was developed by University of Brescia in collaboration with Politecnico di Milano, Université Paris Diderot, Friedrich Schiller University Jena and Sofia University.

Prof De Angelis wins PRIN 2017 with the project NOMEN!

- APRIL 2019 - 
Nonlinear photonics in metal-less metasurfaces (NOMEN) has been funded under the MIUR - PRIN 2017 programme! NOMEN employs the recently introduced concept of enhanced second order nonlinear optics with metal-less nanoantennas and metasurfaces to develop new platforms for nonlinear photonics applications. 
The project is coordinated by the University of Brescia in collaboration with Politecnico di MilanoCNR and the University of Pavia.
